RAWALPINDI: The Chief of the Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif, arrived in Waziristan on Friday evening to spend Eid with the Pakistan Army soldiers.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), he will stay overnight and spend the Eid day with the troops at the forward locations.
“General Raheel will spend the religious festival with troops engaged in Operation Zarb-e-Azb at the forward locations in Waziristan,” an ISPR statement tweeted.
Last year, the army chief had also spent Eidul Fitr with the troops by staying overnight at the Miramshah camp. The military offensive against the militants in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) was initiated in June 2014.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the army chief visited the corps headquarters in Peshawar where an Iftar dinner had been hosted in honour of the families of the victims of the attack on the Army Public School and College, Peshawar.
