Multan-Vehari Road construction progressing rapidly: Maryam
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has shared an optimistic message for the people of South Punjab via the social media platform X, saying that the construction of the 95-kilometre-long Multan-Vehari dual carriageway, costing Rs25 billion, is progressing at a fast pace.
“The most important highway of South Punjab, the Multan-Vehari Road, is being constructed rapidly. Once completed, it will connect four districts with Motorway M-4 and benefit more than 24,000 people daily,” the chief minister said.
In her message on the World Day Against Human Trafficking, Maryam termed human trafficking a “modern form of slavery.” “The purpose of observing this day is to raise public awareness about the grave issue of human trafficking,” she said, emphasising Pakistan’s national commitment to the cause under the theme “Leave no child behind in the fight against human trafficking.”
She reiterated the Punjab government’s resolve to end the illegal trafficking of children, saying: “Children are my red line, and their protection is my top priority. I am determined that every child in Punjab be protected against this heinous crime.” She reaffirmed that the Punjab government maintains a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of human trafficking.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also expressed joy over the appointment of Nida Saleh, the first female driver of the Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT).
