Pakistan, Iran sign MoU for cooperation in public sector

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Audit Institutions of Pakistan (SAIP) and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the public sector auditing in Tehran.

Auditor General of Pakistan Rana Assad Amin who is in Tehran on an official visiut and Amin Hussein Rahimi, Senior President of the Supreme Audit Court of Iran, signed the MoU, a statement received on Tuesday said.

The MoU covers areas of cooperation in the public sector auditing.  The heads of the two SAIs agreed to benefit from each other’s experiences through study visits, cooperative audits and training programmes.

The areas for cooperative audit were identified as border management, environmental issues common to both the countries and electricity transmission lines.

Amin thanked Rahimi for inviting the Pakistani delegation to Iran and expressed the hope that the signing of the formal MoU will further enhance the existing brotherly relations with the SAI of Iran and will open new areas of cooperation between the two SAIs.  The Auditor General of Pakistan extended special invitation to Rahimi to visit Pakistan.

The visiting delegation was impressed with the performance of SANA IT project in the Supreme Audit Court Iran.

The Auditor General of Pakistan also invited the head of SANA IT project and his team to Pakistan and share Iran’s experience of automation of audit activities through audit management system.

During the visit to Iran from July 17-22, the Auditor General of Pakistan will also visit the Appeal Court of SAC for an orientation with the Judicial Audit System in Iran.  He will also visit Qom and Isfahan and meet with the director generals of Supreme Audit Court of Qom and Isfahan provinces.
