CJP takes notice of frequent transfers and postings in FIA
Karachi
Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali on Tuesday took suo moto notice of frequent transfers and postings of police officers in the Federal Investigation Agency.
The chief justice took up an application of FIA officers of different ranks against frequent transfers and postings to and from the police department.
The officers said the FIA was a specialised investigation agency dealing with technical and white-collar crimes, and that solving such cases required the services of experienced and trained officers.
They submitted that transfers and postings of the officers from the police department to the FIA caused serious losses to the service career officers of the agency and also amounted to denial and flouting of the guidelines given by the Supreme Court in a judgment.
Taking notice of the issue, Chief Justice Jamali directed the office to treat the application as suo moto proceedings and fix the matter on July 14.
The court also issued notices to the attorney general and the FIA director general for appearance.
