Tax exemption

This refers to the letter ‘Tax with care’ (June 30, 2025) by Abbas R Siddiqi. While I respect the viewpoint that all economic activity should contribute to the national tax base, I believe that temporarily eliminating the sales tax on imported solar panels would be a forward-thinking policy move. This could accelerate the adoption of solar energy, reduce the strain on the national grid and significantly lower the import burden.
It is a strategic investment in long-term energy security, economic stability and environmental responsibility. Once solar energy becomes widespread, taxation policies can be revisited to ensure sustainability and fairness.
