The right people
This refers to the letter 'Break free' (June 30, 2025) by Sannia Saeed. The writer has diagnosed our problem as over-dependence on the IMF and sees our salvation in self-reliance. Keeping this in mind, she has even suggested a plan of action which, if implemented properly, could change our fortunes. Unfortunately, the basic problem still remains unsolved. Where to find the capable and dedicated persons of integrity to implement the plan?
Our visionaries solved the electricity shortage problem – which was inconveniencing people and curbing industrial and commercial activity – by contracting electricity generating capacity, far in excess of our requirements. This has forced us to pay up for excessive, unused and even unproduced electricity.
