Ceasefire with India must lead to talks: Bilawal
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Friday the new generation wants peace, and a ceasefire between Islamabad and New Delhi means dialogue should follow.
While speaking at the Meet the Press event here, he said India claimed Pakistan is a terrorist state, but the world outright rejected that narrative. “We speak not just for the Pakistani people but for the Indian people too. We don’t want hatred to pass down through generations,” he added.
He said the new generation would not accept India’s message of hate. Kashmir is an international dispute. “If war erupts between two nuclear powers, it will endanger global peace.” Bilawal said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was once the butcher of Gujarat, then the butcher of Kashmir, and now he wanted to become the butcher of the Indus Valley Civilisation. “Whether India likes it or not, the people want peace,” he added.
In principle, the PPP chairman said India should engage in dialogue. “The Indian prime minister told Pakistan’s youth, ‘Eat bread or face bullets. What kind of peace gesture is that?” he asked.
Bilawal declared that Pakistan had achieved a comprehensive victory over India across three key fronts—military, diplomatic, and narrative—during the recent conflict. He credited the armed forces, diplomats, media, and youth for the coordinated success, despite Pakistan’s relatively limited resources.
