Newly-married couple found murdered in house
LAHORE:A newly-wed couple was found murdered inside their house in Noor Park, Kahna, by unidentified assailants.
According to police officials, the victims, Anisa,20, and Pir Muhammad, 25, married only a few days prior to the incident. Unidentified attackers reportedly entered their residence near Ahlu Road in Kahna and opened fire, killing both of them on the spot before fleeing the scene. Bodies were shifted to the morgue. Preliminary police investigations suggest that the killings may have been carried out in the name of honour. Police registered a case.
400 liquor bottles seized; rickshaw driver arrested
Islampura Police seized 400 liquor bottles from a rickshaw and arrested the driver. Garhi Shahu Police nabbed liquor seller Shehzad Masih near schools. Shahdara Check Post Police arrested Zubair for stabbing a man during a dispute. Badami Bagh Police recovered a missing 6-year-old boy within hours. In Defence-C, Zia Ullah was arrested for brandishing an automatic rifle. Punjab Society Police foiled a robbery, arresting a three-member gang. Dolphin Squad arrested drug dealer Sajawal with 1,000g hashish, and caught two robbers. Police officials also held open courts and meetings to review crime control and officer welfare initiatives.
Four die in separate incidents
Four individuals lost their lives in separate incidents across the provincial capital on Tuesday. Two unidentified men, aged 35 and 45, were found dead near Lal Pul in Mughalpura and Ghalib Market respectively. Police suspected drug overdose as the cause of death in both cases. In another incident, a 65-year old man, identified as Malik Ijaz Awan, was found dead in his house in Nishat Colony, South Cantt. According to initial reports, he suffered a heart attack while alone at home, as his family was away attending a wedding in another city.
Meanwhile, a road accident claimed the life of a 22-year old motorcyclist near LDA Chowk on Kacha Road in Kahna. The victim, identified as Zahid, son of Din Muhammad, was reportedly hit by a speeding truck and died on the spot. Police, with assistance of Edhi volunteers, shifted the bodies to the morgue.
32 gangsters detained in 24 hours
The Punjab Police spokesperson Tuesday said during the past 24 hours, 32 members of 15 gangs have been arrested.
The spokesperson said police recovered 29 stolen motorcycles, 31 mobile phones, 2 tola gold, and Rs2 million, and 126 weapons, including Kalashnikovs, pistols, rifles, revolvers, and shotguns from the accused. The spokesperson maintained that during police actions nine criminals suffered injuries. He said the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, has ordered strict operations against criminal elements.
Two vehicle thieves killed in encounter
Two alleged car and motorcycle thieves were killed in a police encounter in the Shahdara area. The incident occurred when the AVLS team signaled two suspicious individuals to stop at a checkpoint. Instead of complying, the suspects opened fire on the police. In the retaliatory exchange of gunfire, both suspects were killed on the spot. The deceased were identified as Waqas and Zohaib, both of whom were wanted in multiple cases of vehicle theft across the City. Bodies were shifted to the morgue.
