SWABI: The residents of Razaar tehsil here on Monday asked the police to register the first information report (FIR) against the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Razaar and the Station House Officer (SHO) of Parmuli Police Station for the alleged killing of a man during an action.
They made the demand at a jirga, which was attended by local leaders of various political parties.The residents asked the district police to register the FIR or else they would stage a protest demonstration outside the district headquarters.
It was alleged that the police killed a man identified as Qamar Zaman during an action. The police alleged that the man had opened fire on the cops during a raid and was killed in retaliation. However, the jirga rejected the charge.
The jirga was held in Bazeedkhel area when leaders of political parties and people came to know about the incident. It was learnt that the accused was wanted by the Parmuli Police Station in various cases. However, the local people asserted that the deceased was innocent and was killed unjustly.
Ghulam Haqqani, mayor of Tehsil Razaar, Asifur Rehman, district president of Awami National Party and Ali Khan, district president of Pakistan Peoples Party, told the media that they would soon call another jirga to decide the future line of action if the district police failed to register the FIR.
