The Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has finalised the arrangements to ensure smooth water supply and drainage services across the city during Eidul Azha.

The chief executive officer (CEO) of the KWSC, Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, on the instructions of Karachi Mayor and KWSC Chairman Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has tasked employees of the water corporation with providing uninterrupted utilities to citizens during the religious holiday.

According to a spokesperson for the KWSC, the staff has been placed on high alert, with special focus on areas around mosques, Eidgahs, Imambargahs and religious schools. All executive engineers have been instructed to remain on standby with their necessary staff and machinery in their respective areas round the clock to respond to any emergency.

Despite the public holidays, KWSC officers and employees will remain on duty to address complaints and ensure the city's water and sewerage systems continued to function efficiently. In addition, the CEO confirmed that water tankers were being provided free of charge to various social and religious organisations hosting public drinking stations (Sabeels) during Eid.

Clean drinking water was also being supplied without interruption to major public hospitals. including SIUT, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases, and other Sindh government hospitals, to avoid any disruption in medical services during the Eid holidays.

The KWSC spokesperson stated that it had been maintaining constant coordination with the district administration, elected representatives, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), and municipal corporations to ensure timely removal of offal and other waste to prevent sewerage system blockages.
