Pakistan’s salaried class and pensioners have been badly hit by unprecedented inflation and tax hikes. Sadly, no post-retirement benefits are provided to retirees in respect of income tax deductions.
The incumbent government needs to optimise income taxes on the salaried class in the upcoming federal budget and, in order to achieve the desired annual revenue targets, there is a need to widen the tax net and increase identification of tax evaders.
