Five out of 13 kidnapped workers recovered
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police recovered five of the 13 kidnapped workers of a private construction company and arrested 13 accused during a prompt action on Thursday.
Around 12 to 16 workers of a private construction company were on way to Quetta in Balochistan from Islamabad when unidentified armed men intercepted two vehicles at gunpoint and abducted approximately 13 workers near the Daraban area close to Domanda Bridge.
Upon receiving the report, District Police Officer (DPO) Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada launched a rapid response operation by police and the Counter Terrorism Department in the regions of Kulachi, Daraban and Darazinda tehsils.
Sources said that an intense exchange of gunfire took place between the kidnappers and police personnel during the operation.However, the police successfully recovered five of the 13 abducted workers while operation to recover the remaining hostages was still going on.DPO Sajjad Ahmad said that efforts were underway to ensure the safe recovery of the remaining abductees.
