Please agree, FPSC

On May 16, the National Assembly agreed to raise the maximum age for Central Superior Services (CSS) exam candidates from 30 to 35, with the change taking effect in 2026. Aspirants will also be allowed up to five attempts at the CSS exam, one more than at present. This decision was long awaited by CSS aspirants and its passage by the National Assembly is a very positive sign, fostering an increased sense of optimism among the ruling parties. Though the National Assembly has passed the resolution, the final notification from the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) is still awaited. It is highly possible that the FPSC might recommend a reduction in the upper age limit of 35 years and the five attempts as well.

Considering the prolonged struggle and anticipation of the aspirants, an increase in the upper age limit to 35 years is not an excessive adjustment. I would strongly suggest that the FPSC promptly notify the resolution passed by the National Assembly. Over 60 per cent of the youth lack sufficient resources and guidance for the CSS examination, making a higher age limit and more attempts very necessary.
