Bilawal hails US leadership’s efforts for peace building
Delegation will also engage with prominent leaders from Pakistani-American community during visit
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples (PPP) Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in an interview to AFP, has praised the US leadership efforts in contributing to ceasefire initiatives and peace-building in conflict zones. He acknowledged the positive role Washington continues to play in supporting diplomatic efforts globally.
A high-level parliamentary delegation from Pakistan, led by the former foreign minister, has commenced an official visit to Washington, D.C. The delegation held several important meetings with key American stakeholders.
Bilawal also gave interviews to prominent US media outlets, including CBS and Bloomberg, where he articulated Pakistan’s perspective on sustainable peace and regional stability.
In his conversation with CBS, he shed light on the objectives of the visit and elaborated on Pakistan’s stance regarding long-term peace in South Asia and beyond. He emphasized the need for greater international cooperation in conflict resolution and regional development.
As part of the delegation’s scheduled engagements, the PPP chairman is expected to meet with co-chairs and members of the Pakistan Caucus in the US Congress. He will also hold discussions with several American senators and congressional representatives.
In addition, Bilawal is set to present Pakistan’s viewpoint at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), one of Washington’s leading think tanks.
The delegation will also engage with prominent leaders from the Pakistani-American community during the visit.
PPP Vice President Senator Sherry Rehman, in a statement on social medial platform “X”, stated: “Kicking off today’s engagements in Washington DC by meeting with Senator Slotkin along with Senator Musaddiq, Tehmina Janjua.
“Excellent conversation about Pakistan’s search for stability and sustainable peace in South Asia, about the Indus Waters Treaty, Kashmir and the need to build mechanisms to combat terrorism where unprovoked and entirely unproven allegations pass for war triggers. We thanked the US for mediating a ceasefire in one of the most dangerous conflicts of the world.” She stated that India now seeks to impose an irresponsible new abnormal on the area and wants no dialogue to ramp down the heat. Sherry said Pakistan does not want war but will obviously respond if provoked. “The world should worry as one state wants perpetual war while the other wants permanent peace. Important to unfog the smoke and mirrors generated by India.”
