HYDERABAD: A cracker bomb was hurled at the Naseem Nagar police checkpost in Hyderabad during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, causing panic and minor damage but no reported injuries.

According to the FIR, government officials, including the Station House Officer (SHO), were present in the office on official duty when a loud explosion shook the premises. Following the blast, a crater was found in the SHO’s office, and a bottle containing traces of petrol was recovered from the scene.

The FIR further stated that, shortly after the explosion, an officer looked outside and saw two unidentified individuals fleeing the scene on a 125cc motorcycle, riding against traffic on Wadhu Wah Road. The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called in to sweep the checkpost and surrounding area. The squad collected forensic evidence from the site and secured the materials for analysis.

An FIR had been lodged against two unknown suspects under the Explosives Act and the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Adeel Chandio visited the site to assess the situation firsthand. He later told The News that no arrests had been made yet, but a comprehensive investigation was underway from all angles.
