Big Bird Foods enters strategic partnership with Alibaba Group to expand global reach
KARACHI: Big Bird Foods Limited (BBFL), a leading name in Pakistan’s poultry and processed food sector, has announced a strategic agreement with Alibaba Group, the world’s foremost e-commerce and technology conglomerate.
In a statement on Wednesday, the company formally informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) and the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) about this strategic move.
This landmark partnership will provide BBFL with direct export access to Alibaba’s extensive global B2B e-commerce platforms, including Alibaba[dot]com, allowing the company to showcase and sell its products to verified buyers across more than 190 countries and regions. The collaboration represents a significant step forward in BBFL’s international expansion strategy, opening the doors to the global poultry meat market, which is valued at over $350 billion annually. This market is witnessing steady growth driven by increasing demand for affordable protein sources in both developed and emerging economies.
Under the terms of the agreement, BBFL will gain access to Alibaba’s vast B2B buyer networks and global sourcing tools, enabling the company to participate in Alibaba’s online trade fairs and promotional events. The partnership will enhance BBFL’s supply chain and logistics capabilities for cross-border trade, while providing valuable market intelligence, trend analytics and business development support.
Company Secretary and Head of Legal at BBFL Muhammad Riaz emphasised that this partnership is expected to significantly boost the company’s export revenue, increase its international brand visibility, and create long-term value for shareholders.
