Arshad pays gratitude to the nation for unwavering support
LAHORE: Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem as he dedicated his gold medal victory at the Asian Athletics Championship to the nation, expressed gratitude for the prayers and unwavering support from his fellow Pakistanis.
Ahead of his return to Pakistan, Arshad shared a heartfelt video message, highlighting the significance of his triumph in Gumi, South Korea. “By the grace of Allah and the prayers of the people, I succeeded in the final and earned respect for Pakistan,” he stated.
Arshad, who claimed his first gold in an international event since the 2024 Paris Olympics, credited his coach Salman Iqbal Butt for his success. “The gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championship is the result of hard work by me and my coach Salman Iqbal Butt. I will be arriving at Lahore Airport tonight,” he said.
Arshad maintained his top position throughout the final round, throwing 85.57 meters in his third attempt, followed by 83.99 meters in the fourth. His final throw of 86.40 meters secured his victory, cementing his status as one of Asia’s premier javelin throwers.
With this gold medal win, Arshad now shifts his focus to the World Athletics Championships in September, where he hopes to continue his winning streak. “I am very happy that this was my first event after the Paris Olympics, and Allah Almighty has granted victory to Pakistan,” he concluded.
