Housing schemes: Not only 5,118 private but 206 LDA societies also illegal, Punjab CM told
CM chaired meeting on Saturday to discuss proposals on how to regularize illegal housing societies in province
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed making property transactions safe and transparent for the people of Punjab.
She chaired a meeting on Saturday to discuss proposals on how to regularize illegal housing societies in the province. She said: “The housing schemes that have been built should be regularized as soon as possible according to the law so that people can get a relief. Government departments are equally responsible for the establishment of illegal housing societies. They were established with their collusion, but only the common men who bought plots got punished. Why did the relevant institutions turn a blind eye when the illegal housing societies were being built.”
She directed authorities to abolish unnecessary NOCs for the registration of housing societies. She agreed to form a high-level committee for the regularization of illegal housing schemes. She directed authorities to take measures to digitize the housing sector for the first time in Punjab.
“A housing societies management system should be introduced. Housing society approval, management and transfer will be made possible online. NOC fees will also be paid online after uploading the required documents. Development and management will also be made possible through the housing society management system.”
She was briefed by the relevant authorities that the total number of housing societies in Punjab is 7,905, covering an area of about 2 million kanals. As many as 2,687 housing schemes are approved, while 5,118 are illegal or under process across Punjab. She was also briefed on LDA schemes that 707,427 were approved, 206 were illegal and 74 were in the approval process.
The chief minister condemned a terrorist attack in Surab carried out under the banner of Fitna al-Hindustan. She paid tribute to immortal sacrifice of ADC Revenue Hidayat Buledi who was martyred in the defence of the motherland.
While congratulating the javelin throw winners in the Asian Athletics Championship, she said: “Hard work of Arshad Nadeem and Yasir Sultan and prayers of the entire nation have led to the victory of Pakistan. The Punjab government is providing every possible facility to youths so that they raise Pakistan’s flag in the world.”
