Punjab to solarise all Rescue 1122 stations: Salman

LAHORE : Provincial Minister for Health and Emergency Services Punjab Khawaja Salman Rafique said that Punjab government is planning to provide fire and rescue service and motorbike rescue service in 39 more tehsils.

He share this information while talking during his visit to the Emergency Services Headquarters on Saturday.

During his visit, Khawaja Salman Rafique also presided over a meeting and reviewed the annual development schemes. Secretary Emergency Services Dr Rizwan Naseer briefed the meeting on the performance and development goals of rescue.

Khawaja Salman Rafique on this occasion said that according to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the quality and operational capabilities of the Punjab Emergency Service will be further improved. “The scope of the rescue internship programme will be further expanded,” he added.

Provincial Minister for Health further said that the Air Ambulance Service is the flagship programme of the Punjab government. The scope of emergency services on the motorway will be further expanded. The emergency dispatch system of Rescue 1122 will be made as per international standards, he added.

Khawaja Salman Rafique informed that the Punjab government will soon solarise all Rescue 1122 stations. Coordination between the institutions will be further improved to prevent forest and crop fires. The timely provision and performance of rescue services in the most difficult situations, heat waves and storms and heavy rains is commendable, he added.

Hot weather to persist

Hot weather was observed in the city here on Saturday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.

Met officials said a westerly wave was affecting upper parts of the country and likely to move eastwards during 12 to 18 hours. They predicted that mainly hot and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country while very hot in plain areas. However, partly cloudy weather with more rain-wind/thundershower is likely at isolated places in Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas.

Rainfall was recorded in several cities including Cherat, Saidu Sharif, Pattan, Malam Jabba, Mir Khani & Kakul, Kalam, Balakot, Bacha Khan Airport, Drosh, Dir, Kotli, Garhi Dupatta, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Mangla, Chakwal, Murree, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Gujrat, Bagrote, Astore, Bunji, Skardu, Chilas and Gilgit. Saturday’s highest maximum temperature was recorded at Jacobabad and Dadu where mercury reached 48°C while in Lahore it was 38°C.
