Maryam promises further cut in roti price
CM directed Price Control Department to take immediate steps to further reduce roti price
LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has promised to lower the roti prices in Punjab.
She chaired a meeting here on Thursday to review the prices of roti and other edibles. She ordered to fix the roti price according to the new flour price across Punjab.
The CM directed the Price Control Department to take immediate steps to further reduce the roti price. She also ordered to closely monitor prices of chicken, vegetables and pulses across Punjab.
“The poor used to eat cheap chicken once a week. I cannot tolerate hike in the prices of chicken under any circumstances,” she added. “I pledge to bring the price of ‘roti’ at the lowest level in Punjab’s history. The benefit in the reduction of flour price should reach directly to the poor.”
Separately, CM Maryam formally launched the enrolment campaign in the country’s first state-of-the-art ‘Nawaz Sharif Centre of Excellence for Early Childhood Education’.
The centre has introduced excellent arrangements, colourful classrooms, a wonderful environment and modern teaching methods from all private institutions. The CM formally launched the Centre by ringing the pre-school bell.
In the enrolment campaign, Muhammad Yousuf, the younger son of Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, is among the first to enroll in the Centre for Early Childhood Education. Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat became the first provincial minister to get his child admitted to a government school. The CM also unveiled the official uniform of the Centre for Early Childhood Education. She interacted with young children and their parents.
