Three cops suspended over alleged harassment, extortion attempt
In a response to a complaint of misconduct, the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Malir on Thursday suspended three police officers stationed at the Madadgar 15 Gul Ahmed Check Post for allegedly harassing citizens and attempting to extort money.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Shah Latif police station near Daud Chowrangi. The police personnel, identified as Saqib, Yasir, and Shahzaib, were accused of stopping citizens without cause, using physical force, and demanding money.
Taking immediate notice of the allegations, SSP Malir, Lt Commander (retd) Kashif Abbasi, ordered the suspension of all three officers and initiated a departmental inquiry. In an official statement, the SSP Malir spokesperson stated that the department maintained zero tolerance for corruption, unprofessionalism, and unethical behavior. He added that responding to public complaints with timely and appropriate action remains a top priority for the Malir police.
