This refers to the letter ‘Presidential system’ (May 27, 2025) by Nabeel Badr. The presidential form of government was in vogue from 1958 to 1969. Spectacular progress and development was made during this period. The population was also far lower and there was very little or no corruption in the public and private domains.
Under our current parliamentary form of government, our senators, MNAs and MPAs have helped themselves to lavish increments in salary and benefits, whilst the ordinary people work themselves to the bone just to make ends meet. I think that we should seriously consider returning to the presidential system.
