ADB shows interest in investing in expanding Sindh’s public transport infrastructure

Following the successful launch of the electric bus service in Karachi, the Sindh government has accelerated plans to extend the initiative to other major cities across the province.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has stated that the future lies in electric vehicles and affirmed the government’s commitment to making significant strides in this sector. In this context, a high-level delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) met with Memon, who also serves as the provincial minister for information, transport, and mass transit, in Karachi on Tuesday.

The meeting focused on exploring potential investments in Sindh’s rapidly growing transport sector.The ADB delegation expressed interest in investing in the enhancement of Sindh’s public transport infrastructure. In response, Minister Memon praised the ADB’s continued support and reiterated the Sindh government’s resolve to bring transformative changes to the province’s transport system, with sustainability as a key priority. He noted that Pakistan's first electric bus service, launched in Karachi, had been warmly welcomed by the public.
