Over 3,868 mineral reserves geo-tagged

LAHORE:The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), in collaboration with the Punjab Mines & Minerals Department, has successfully geo-tagged over 3,868 mineral reserves using the Chief Inspectorate of Mines App since Oct 2021. This information was disclosed during a progress review meeting presided over by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf on Monday.

The Chief Inspectorate of Mines App, developed by PITB, enabled digital inspection and oversight of mining sites across six different regions with 2,416 inspections completed by 10 inspectors since August 2023. Additionally, the system facilitated the monitoring of emergency rescue equipment and allowed timely incident reporting, enhancing safety and compliance in Punjab’s mining sector. Faisal Yousaf commented that the digital solution streamlines mining operations and strengthens real-time monitoring of compliance, advancing the mining sector towards greater transparency and safety.

Importance of museums highlighted

Planning and Development (P&D) Board member Dr Ehsan Bhutta has said that the Punjab government is doing its utmost to preserve and promote heritage. Two more galleries in the name of Sir Shadi Lal and Ilm Deen Shaheed in GCT Lytton Road is in progress.

He was addressing on the occasion of International Museums Day celebrations at heritage building Poonch House. DG Industries Asif Ali Farrukh, Director Museum Fauzia Quershi, Manager TDCP Dogar, Consultants Industries department Malik Maqsood and M Hassan along with officers of DG Industries office were present at this occasion. All the speakers highlighted the importance of museums, heritage building Poonch House, efforts of Baghat Singh and gallery.

Dr Ehsan Bhutta said that more than 1,200 Sikhs from Europe and Canada visited Poonch House/ Baghat Singh Gallery. He told that they all appreciated the Punjab government for such a nice initiative.
