Cops escape IED blast in Lower Dir
TIMERGARA: Unidentified miscreants targeted an armoured personnel carrier(APC) of the police with an improvised explosive device in the Maidan area of Lower Dir on Sunday, officials said.
They, however, said that no casualty occurred in the explosion.They said that Station House Officer (SHO) Lal Qilla Police Station, along with police, elite force, bomb disposal unit (BDU) officials and security personnel, was on his way to launch a search operation in Ashro Gai Lal Qilla area. “The explosion went off as soon as the APC reached Ashro Gai,” said an official, adding, the police personnel remained safe in the attack.
Meanwhile, several areas in the provincial metropolis plunged into darkness after the windstorm, as the electricity supply was disconnected. The Peshawar Electric Supply Company could not restore the supply, and most of the affected areas remained in the dark till late at night.
