Two militants killed in Turbat

QUETTA: Two armed militants were killed in a heavy exchange of fire in Turbat, the district headquarters of Kech district, police said on Saturday.

Officials said that a group of armed men riding motorcycles made an attempt to attack a check-post of the Frontier Corps in Turbat in the wee hours. They opened fire at the post.

However, security personnel deployed at the check-post retaliated. In another incident in Naseerabad, 40 kilometres from Turbat, women and children were injured when a grenade was thrown at a house. A senior police officer Zahoor Ahmed said that unidentified motorcyclists threw a grenade at a house in Naseerabad, resulting in injuries to Meeral Qasim, Ayesha Shabbir, Fatima Shabbir and Shahzad Shabbir who were shifted to hospital.

Police officials said that a search operation was underway in the area to trace out the accused involved in attacking the house.
