Fire continues to destroy forest in Baizai mountain
BATKHELA: The fire reputed in the Baizai mountain range some five days ago could not be extinguished despite hectic efforts by the local Rescue 1122 teams.
A wildfire that broke out in the mountainous region of Thana Baizai tehsil remained out of control even after five days.
Despite continuous efforts, the rescue teams were unable to contain the inferno, which has now spread over approximately 13 kilometers.
The huge blaze has caused massive damage to the wildlife and forest trees in the area.
The fire erupted some five days ago in Nugran Shakaro due to unknown reasons and has since engulfed nearby mountains, including Ganiar and Alldhand Dheri.
The personnel of Rescue 1122, Malakand Levies, Forest Department and local volunteers have been trying their best to extinguish the blaze. However, due to the difficult terrain and intense heat, rescue workers are facing serious challenges in their efforts.
Local residents have appealed to the district administration to send helicopters to help extinguish the fire as ground efforts were insufficient.
