KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Irrigation Jam Khan Shoro chaired an important meeting on Friday to thoroughly review irrigation development schemes.
Secretary of Irrigation Zarif Iqbal Khero and other senior officers of the irrigation department attended the meeting. The central focus of the session was to finalise technically feasible projects requiring immediate attention for the upcoming fiscal year 2025-26’s Annual Development Programme (ADP).
On this occasion, Shoro directed the officers to conduct the detailed evaluation of the utility and potential impacts of the proposed schemes. Shoro emphasised that sustainability and public needs should be prioritised when selecting irrigation development projects.
Various ongoing irrigation projects under the current fiscal year 2024-25’s ADP and PSDP were also discussed in detail.The provincial minister instructed the officers to take concrete steps to ensure the timely completion of these projects and stressed the need to promptly remove all obstacles.
Shoro informed that schemes facing legal or administrative issues were also identified during the meeting, to decide on their future in the next ADP.The minister clarified that no project suffering from unnecessary delays or legal complications would be included.He affirmed that the Sindh government is committed to the development of the irrigation sector and will prioritise projects that benefit agriculture and the economy of the province.
