KHAR: A huge quantity of drugs seized during various police operations was set ablaze at the Police Lines in Bajaur on Thursday.The destruction process was carried out under the strict supervision of Senior Civil Judge Mohibur Rehman and Civil Judge Shahab Faheem.
Officials said that 121.835 kilograms of hashish, 2.255 kilograms of opium, 151 grams of crystal meth (Ice) and 33 grams of heroin were torched, which were confiscated in multiple criminal cases filed under the Narcotics Act.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Investigation Bajaur, Naveed Iqbal, said that the police were committed to pursuing narcotics cases in courts. He revealed that several offenders have already been convicted as a result of consistent legal follow-ups.
“Narcotics are a menace to society,” SP Iqbal stated, adding “Those involved in this vile trade are the true enemies of our youth. They deserve no leniency and will face the consequences of their actions.”
He further credited the improved performance of district police personnel to the appointment of honest and well-informed officers. SP Iqbal also called upon the public to play an active role in eradicating drugs from the community.“This mission cannot succeed without public cooperation. The dream of a drug-free society and a secure future for our youth hinges on collective action,” he added.
