ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Wednesday restored the Sales Tax Act Entry No 151 of sixth schedule relating to pay order in the erstwhile federally administered tribal areas (FATA) as well as provincially administered tribal areas (PATA) at the time of customs clearance consignments.

A five-member constitutional bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan, heard the case titled Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA) versus M/S Taj Vegetable Oil Processing Unit PVT Limited, Dargai, Malakand, and others.

The court restored the entry No 151 of sixth schedule of Sales tax Act, 1990 through Finance Act, 2024 in the former Fata and Pata.

The apex court issued notices to the respondents, ordered the consolidation of all connected petitions, and granted status quo, thereby restoring and maintaining the amendment made by Parliament in Entry No151 of the Sixth Schedule to the Sales Tax Act, 1990.
