Ecnec approves over Rs335bn for 9 projects

ECNEC also granted in principle approval for Dasu project with whopping revised cost

ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) Wednesday approved Rs355.736 billion for nine key sector projects, including transport, energy, education, water resources, trade facilitation, tourism and post-disaster recovery.

In a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, the committee approved special repair of 100 diesel electric locomotives for improving the reliability and availability of running locomotives with revised estimates.

ECNEC also granted in principle approval for Dasu project with whopping revised cost.

The Ecnec approved Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Project (SFERP) Phase-II with modified PC-1, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Accessibility Project, 220 KV transmission line system network reinforcement in Islamabad and Burhan area with revised cost, development of Integrated Transit Trade Management System (ITTMS) under ADB’s CAREC program with revised estimates, construction of customs digital enforcement stations by FBR along with River Indus Hub and Balochistan area under FBR’s Transformation Plan to curb movement of smuggled and untaxed goods, construction of Mangi Dam and water conveyance system under second revised PC-1 and Sindh Early Learning Enhancement Through Classroom Transformation subject to one condition.

Other key approvals covered flood rehabilitation initiatives to restore critical infrastructure in Sindh, early learning classroom transformation in Sindh, and construction of Mangi Dam with a water conveyance system in Quetta.
