Poets highlight importance of peace in Kurram

PARACHINAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Department and the Spin Ghar Adabi Jirga on Sunday jointly arranged Amn Mushaira where poets from across the district participated and presented poetry focused on the theme of peace.

The event was held at Governor’s Cottage in Parachinar, poets from Upper Kurram, Lower Kurram, and Central Kurram took part while officials of the district administration, social figures and people from various walks of life attended the event.

Poets including Fakhri Bangash, Sabir Bangash, Nasir Ali Turi, Yousaf Gilaman, Adnan Ahmad, Murtaza Bangash, Yousaf Maranj and others recited beautiful verses on the theme of peace. Some poets presented their poetry in melodious voices, creating a captivating atmosphere.

Assistant Commissioner Parachinar, Khalid Imran, also entertained the audience with his unique and expressive recitation style.In their speeches, Prof Jameel Kazmi, Abdul Khaliq Pathan and Additional Deputy Commissioner Amir Nawaz emphasised the importance of peace, saying that peace was a fundamental need for all living beings.

They stressed that the time had come to set aside mutual differences and create an environment of peace for future generations. They also urged the youth to use social media responsibly to project a positive image of their region to the world. Later, Noor Zaman Khafgani, president of the Spin Ghar Adabi Jirga, thanked the guests, participants, and especially the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Department for organising such an event to foster unity among the people of Kurram district.
