The recent escalation in India and Pakistan tensions has captured global attention, especially after independent news sources reported that Pakistan shot down multiple Indian aircraft including advanced Rafale jets. Although conflict in South Asia is not new, the intensity and visibility of this episode mark a significant turning point in regional affairs. Pakistan’s response has been firm yet restrained, based on its consistent policy of credible deterrence. Islamabad has emphasised its commitment to sovereignty, peace and strategic patience. However, when faced with India’s Operation Sindoor, Pakistan’s armed forces acted with professionalism and resolve, making clear that any aggression would meet a fitting response. The reported downing of high technology Indian aircraft has raised important concerns about India’s military decision-making and escalation control.
In contrast, Pakistan has adopted a calm and reasoned narrative, urging de-escalation, third party verification and constructive diplomacy. This approach has been noted positively in several international forums, improving Pakistan’s diplomatic standing. Crucially, Pakistan has avoided celebratory rhetoric. Its leadership continues to call for dialogue, mutual respect and peaceful negotiation, arguing that long-term stability cannot be achieved through arms purchases or air raids but through fair and inclusive engagement. It is essential for both India to re-evaluate its posture and for global powers to promote dialogue. Pakistan has shown strength with wisdom.
