ISLAMABAD: The majority of Pakistanis are not in favour of a war with India.
Seventy-nine percent of Pakistanis say we will win the war.
This was revealed by a Gallup Pakistan survey in which several hundred Pakistanis from more than a hundred districts of the country participated.
When asked about winning a war between the two countries, 12pc of Pakistanis said peace should be given way in all the circumstances. No one wins in a war. 7pc did not answer this question.
Public opinion was divided on the question of starting a war in response to Indian aggression. Fifty-four percent opposed starting the war, while 43pc said war should be waged.
Three percent did not answer this question.
In the survey, 78 percent supported the government’s move to close the airspace for Indian airlines.
Fourteen percent called the move wrong, while 8pc did not answer this question.
Forty-three percent expressed doubt about the US role in reducing Pakistan-India tensions and said they felt America would provoke India to war.
Thirty-one percent said the US would play an immediate role for peace, while 22pc said they did not know anything about it.
On the Pakistani offer of impartial investigation into the Pahalgam attack, 49pc said India would not accept this offer. However, 28pc percent said India could accept this offer.
