SIUT launches PET diagnostic facility for cancer patients in interior of Sindh
The SIUT (Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation) has made another breakthrough for treatment of cancer patients by introducing a state of the art diagnosis technology known as PET/CT in the interior of Sindh.
The technology is known for bringing a significant impact on the treatment of cancer as it enables the physicians to obtain more accurate pictures and help them in carrying out and monitoring the ailment in a more effective manner.
According to SIUT sources, doctors engaged in the introduction of in the new technology are in a better position to visualize the metabolic activity in the human body which helps them in checking any adverse growth.
The installation of PET/CT is another testament to the SIUT’s commitment to bring modern medical technologies and expertise to the region, particularly far-flung areas.
Experts opined that the facility will go a long way for the population of interior Sindh where people who have fallen victim to cancer often had to travel long distances to avail the facility. The availability of the new facility at their doorstep has opened new vistas of comfort and removed economic burden as all the treatment which is provided in the SIUT is free of cost.
The destination of the revolutionary facility is Sukkur where the SIUT since its inception has been running a comprehensive network of medical care in a wide ranging field including urology, nephrology and oncology.
A press release of the Institute released on Thursday said the facility which offers a wide range of services is equipped with modern technology, a team of well- trained staff and experienced medical manpower. The project started in 2017 and completed at a cost of approximately 1.5 billion rupees.
The press release said the introduction of PET/CT is also aimed towards empowering the population to avail the facilities of cancer care, besides empowering the patients to receive timely and effective treatment. It said the introduction of PET/CT in Sukkur is all poised to revolutionize care of cancer in the region, besides empowering them to take timely and early facilities of treatment.
