Omar Ayub slams ‘blackout’ of PTI leaders’ NA speeches
“Not a single sentence of ours was omitted, but despite this the speeches were not broadcast,” he regretted
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership on Tuesday slammed what they alleged the blackout of their speeches in the National Assembly on Pahalgam incident.
Speaking to the media outside the Parliament House while staging a sit-in in protest, they charged that by not broadcasting their speeches live, the government wanted to promote disunity.
In this connection, Leader of Opposition and senior PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan said he had a privilege motion against Tahir Hussain, Secretary General National Assembly, and Zafar Sultan Khan, Director General Media/Photography National Assembly for deliberately censoring and stopping the transmission of his speech, and not providing a video copy of his speech on the Phalagam incident and Modi’s threats of striking Pakistan despite the Speaker’s assurance that there will be no censorship.
“I had strongly advised that Pakistan should strike first and hard against Indian targets if Modi even attempts to strike Pakistan. It appears that this advice of striking India is not palatable for the installed regime of Prime Muppet Shahbaz Sharif because they are cowards,” he wrote on his social media account.
Omar told the media that yesterday they presented a unanimous resolution in the Parliament “but yesterday and today the speeches of the opposition were not broadcast live”. “Not a single sentence of ours was omitted, but despite this the speeches were not broadcast,” he regretted.
“We condemn this act. Does this government want to demonstrate national disunity. Today, we left for the Adiala after making speeches and all our colleagues were surrounded by the police,” he claimed.
“In tomorrow’s session we will welcome the puppet Shahbaz Sharif in such a way that he will remember. We are not being allowed to meet our leader,” he contended. Omar Ayub said, “We are patriotic people. The opposition’s stance will be seen by everyone in the National Assembly tomorrow”.
Suddenly, he continued that there was a stampede in Adiala and they started beating the party visitors. He blamed and blasted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for all that and asked is this protecting the honour and dignity of the members of Parliament.
Speaking on the occasion, senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser explained that they met the Speaker of the National Assembly for national unity. “We requested him not to obstruct the meeting with the founder of PTI and that this is the second time that members of parliament are being disrespected,” he charged.
He announced that they have decided to register another case under 22A against the policemen and remarked, “we consider it an insult to argue with these petty policemen. But we put our grief and anger behind for the sake of this country. We ask the Chief Justice whether the court is succeeding in delivering justice? Chief Justice, you must stand up to restore the dignity of your judiciary. We hope you will stand up for justice”.
