A high-level, seven-member delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) called on Sindh Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon on Tuesday in Karachi to review the progress of the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
The meeting focused on the current status of the project, technical challenges, consultant performance, and other critical issues. On the occasion, Memon briefed the delegation in detail on the hurdles faced in implementing the Red Line BRT. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to completing the project on time and ensuring its successful execution.
Speaking at the meeting, he noted that the project passes through a densely populated urban area, where utility relocation remained a major challenge. He stressed the significance of the project, highlighting that five major universities lie along its route and that it would benefit millions of residents.
He also pointed out that work had been suspended for nine months during the tenure of the caretaker government, which affected the project's timeline. Referring to other transport initiatives, Memon said that the aim of successful projects like the Pink Bus Service was to improve travel facilities for the public.
