Over 3,100 illegal structures razed
LAHORE:The district administration has removed more than 3,100 temporary structures that had been illegally established in various localities here on Sunday.
The administration executed the anti-encroachment operation under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza. In this extensive drive conducted by the Regulation Wing of Metropolitan Corporation Lahore, authorities confiscated 39 truckloads of encroachment materials, dismantled 91 permanent encroachments, and removed more than 3,100 temporary structures that had been illegally established in various areas. The operation covered areas, including Mozang, Chauburji, Islamia Park, Multan Road, Shah Alam and Azam Cloth Market, significantly improving pedestrian access and vehicular movement. Officials sealed 91 properties and removed over 7,000 banners, posters, and other visual pollution materials from public spaces in several key areas, including Mayo Hospital, College Road to Amir Chowk, Missile Chowk, Garden Town, Green Town, and Township.
The administration took strict action against serious violations by registering two FIRs against offenders. Officials clarified that multiple warnings and notices were issued to them before the removal of materials and structures. DC Lahore Syed Musa Raza stated that the anti-encroachment drive has enhanced the City's beauty and provided relief to citizens in their daily commute.
Timely completion of uplift projects ordered
Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza has directed to accelerate efforts to ensure timely completion of development projects going on under the Lahore Development Programme.
Chairing a meeting here Sunday, DC Lahore Syed Musa Raza reviewed ongoing infrastructure initiatives and reiterated strict adherence to transparency, quality, and deadline commitments. The Lahore Development Programme, a flagship initiative under the provincial leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, was progressing rigorously. Authorities have confirmed the DC Lahore that all key projects under its scope were scheduled for completion by 30th June. These included major upgrades in water management, road infrastructure, and public facilities aimed at enhancing Lahore’s urban landscape.
To ensure uninterrupted progress, DC Musa Raza has directed Wasa to expedite work on sewerage improvements. Additionally, firm orders have been issued to eliminate encroachments along key development sites, maintaining streamlined execution. Weekly progress assessments of Phase One have been implemented, ensuring sustained momentum toward completion.
During the review session, assistant commissioners provided updates on the status of various projects, reaffirming the commitment to long-lasting, robust construction. Syed Musa Raza emphasised that all developments must meet strict quality benchmarks, stating that there will be ‘no compromises on timelines, transparency, or standards.’
