Islamabad : Wajiha Qamar, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, conducted visits to several educational institutions operating under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) this week.

The visits were part of the Prime Minister’s Committee on Morning Assembly Assessment, a nationwide initiative aimed at evaluating the role of school assemblies in shaping student development.

During visits, the minister observed morning assemblies, interacted with students, and discussed the importance of these daily routines in promoting character-building, socio-religious harmony and national values

She reiterated the government’s resolve to modernize educational practices while preserving Pakistan’s cultural and moral foundations.

“This initiative is about more than just routine checks - it’s about shaping future generations through values-based, inclusive education,” she said.

Qamar said the assessment drive, in line with the Prime Minister’s directive, focused on evaluating morning assembly practices across 432 institutions, measuring their influence on students’ personal and moral development and

proposing a comprehensive framework that merges modern pedagogy with traditional values.

The minister said that empowering youth through progressive, dialogue-driven education remains a national priority.

In a related development, Wajiha Qamar also participated in the official launch of the ‘Ba-Ikhtiar Mustaqbil’, ‘Ba-Ikhtiar’ Pakistan Alliance, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering adolescent girls and women across the country.

Hosted at the Pakistan Girl Guides Association and supported by UNICEF in collaboration with UN agencies including UN Women, UNFPA, UNDP, IOM, WFP, and FAO, the alliance brings together girl- and women-led organisations from across Pakistan. The goal is to create meaningful platforms for these voices to influence policy in education, health, leadership, and economic empowerment.
