Punjab police increase jobs for martyrs’ children

LAHORE:Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, reaffirmed his commitment on Friday to providing employment opportunities to the children of Punjab Police martyrs. A directive from DIG Establishment-I, Suleman Sultan Rana, has been circulated to all police units to raise awareness about this initiative.

Under the "Shaheed Quota" programme, children of police martyrs are being offered jobs across various ranks based on their educational qualifications and eligibility, as outlined by a Punjab Police spokesperson. The recruitment adheres to established rules and regulations.

Eligible children of martyrs, ranging from Constables to Sub-Inspectors, are being appointed as Junior Clerks, Constables, Driver Constables, and Class-IV staff. For martyrs holding the rank of Inspector and above, their children are being recruited as Sub-Inspectors or Assistants (Grade 16). The spokesperson emphasised that only those meeting the educational criteria qualify for these positions. This initiative extends to families of police martyrs who passed away after April 2017, ensuring continued support for their loved ones.

Meanwhile, IGP, Punjab, directed authorities to strengthen security across the province, including Lahore. The IGP said security at mosques, Imambargahs, shrines, and important locations must be ensured, The IGP instructed DPOs and senior officers to visit local mosques on the occasion of Juma congregation and engage with public after Friday prayers and address their concerns. He stated according to the spirit and teachings of Islam, mosques are being made a center of community connection. The IGP said senior officers should listen to the problems of citizens at their doorsteps through mosques and solve them and also inform them about the services and facilities being provided by the police.

DIG listens to people’s grievances

On Friday, officers from the Lahore Police Operations Wing were present at the citizens’ doorstep to resolve public issues. Following Friday prayers, open courts were simultaneously held in over 100 mosques across the City. DIG Operations Faisal Kamran personally listened to citizens’ grievances in several open courts, beginning at his office and later at Jamia Masjid Rehmania, Neela Gumbad. SP Civil Lines, SDPO, SHO, and other officials were also present. Faisal Kamran listened to citizens’ applications and issued immediate instructions to the officers concerned. He stated that upholding the rule of law and providing relief to affected citizens is a top priority. Faisal Kamran emphasised that open courts are helping to ensure timely delivery of justice. He encouraged citizens to directly approach his office if their complaints are not resolved.
