Irfan hails team combination after emphatic win
LAHORE: Karachi Kings middle-order batter Irfan Khan Niazi expressed satisfaction with his performance and the team’s chemistry following their dominant victory over Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10.
Chasing a formidable 205-run target, Multan Sultans collapsed under pressure, bowled out for 117 in 16.1 overs, as Karachi Kings’ bowlers delivered a clinical display. The defeat marked the end of the road for Multan Sultans, who managed only one win in eight matches, effectively eliminating them from playoff contention.
Their chase faltered early, with Mohammad Rizwan dismissed for a golden duck in the second over, setting the tone for an unconvincing batting performance in a do-or-die encounter.
During the post-match press conference, Irfan Khan acknowledged the team’s struggles in PSL 9, noting that Karachi Kings lacked balance last season but have strengthened their squad this year.
“Our combination wasn’t great last year. This time, we’ve stepped onto the field with a much better combination,” he said. Having contributed 40 off 33 balls, Irfan emphasized how his performance boosted his confidence.
“Playing today’s innings has increased my confidence,” he remarked. He also praised the team’s dressing room atmosphere, highlighting its positive influence on overall performances.
“The atmosphere in the dressing room is very good,” he shared. “I’ll try to play my part in Karachi’s wins with the bat in the upcoming matches.” Irfan Khan further commended the impact of overseas players, noting their strong form as a major asset. “Our foreign cricketers are in good form, which is a big plus for us,” he concluded.
