QUETTA: A devastating fuel tanker fire in Balochistan’s Nushki district has claimed three lives and left dozens injured.
Among the fatalities, one person was found dead in the burned-out wreckage of a fuel tanker, while two others succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to Quetta.
According to details, Muhammad Tayyib, son of a prominent businessman Mir Nooroz Badini, died at CMH hospital in Quetta. Two of Badini’s sons were injured in the fire. Additionally, Mahmood, son of Babu Rustam, also lost his life to the burns sustained in the incident. The identity of another deceased recovered from the site yet to be ascertained.
The tragic fire, which occurred in a fuel tanker, left more than 40 people injured, with several in critical condition. In response to the severity of the injuries, 24 of the most seriously burned victims were airlifted to Karachi for treatment. The transfer was carried out under the supervision of Balochistan’s Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti who ordered the swift airlifting of the victims via a C-130 aircraft.
Seventeen of the injured were admitted to Liaquat National Hospital in Karachi, while six others were transferred to Patel Hospital for further medical care. Chief Minister Bugti visited the Civil Hospital in Quetta to oversee the treatment of the injured and assured them of the best medical facilities.
He also confirmed that the severely wounded victims would be transferred to Karachi as per medical advice. The Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, noting that immediate action, including the dispatch of helicopters and ambulances, had been taken to transport injured individuals to Quetta.
