India mistreats repatriating Pakistan HC staff
Official sources urged India to treat diplomats with dignity and respect
ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office has formally raised concerns with Indian authorities on treatment meted out to the staff and families of Pakistan’s high commission during repatriation, urging a resolution to the issue.
According to official sources, India has escalated tensions by creating hurdles in the repatriation of Pakistan High Commission staff and families, while also restricting essential services to Pakistani diplomats. This behaviour is not new, but has worsened, with Indian media seemingly colluding with security personnel to further complicate matters for Pakistani diplomats returning home.
Official sources urged India to treat diplomats with dignity and respect, warning that New Delhi will have to account for its behaviour soon. In contrast, Islamabad is ensuring Indian diplomats are treated with decency and in accordance with diplomatic norms.
