Pakistan, Kazakhstan ink $140.8m in deals

KARACHI: Pakistan and Kazakhstan signed key cooperation agreements and facilitated business deals worth an estimated $140.8 million during a bilateral business forum and B2B meetings held in Karachi on Monday.

The Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum, hosted at the Marriott Hotel, brought together more than 300 participants, including over 100 Kazakh government officials and business leaders, alongside representatives from more than 200 Pakistani companies spanning sectors such as agriculture, food processing, logistics and construction.

Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Commerce Ihsan Afzal Khan, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Chief Executive Faiz Ahmad and TDAP Secretary Sheryar Taj were present at the event. Kazakhstan’s minister of transport led the visiting delegation.

Around 500 business-to-business meetings were held throughout the day, aimed at fostering partnerships and facilitating trade across diverse industries. Two memoranda of understanding were signed at the forum. One agreement involved the supply of anhydrous milk fat (AMF) from Friesland Campina Engro Pakistan Limited to Optima Development Kazakhstan. Another MoU focused on mutual cooperation between the Governor’s Office of Kyzylorda Region in Kazakhstan, Ghani Global Group from Karachi and Euroglass Industries LLP of Kyzylorda.Officials described the forum as a significant step towards strengthening bilateral economic ties, with follow-up initiatives expected later this year to support deeper trade engagement.
