LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has approved the biggest ever road rehabilitation program in the province under which 12000km roads will be constructed and rehabilitated to ensure ease of communication.
“Prioritise road projects keeping in mind needs and usage of the people,” Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed the authorities concerned while chairing a meeting of the C&W Department. She added, “Implementation of bye-laws should be ensured to keep roadsides free from encroachments.”
Chief minister reviewed 18.5km of Lahore Ring Road Southern Loop road project, and sought a feasibility reportfrom the relevant authorities for the expressway project to connect Layyah-Bhakkar road to motorway. She also discussed Khariyan-Rawalpindi Express Road, project, and directed the authorities responsible to install uniform style of tuff tiles in cities and villages.
Secretary C&W briefed Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in detail on the road projects of each division and district. He said, “Construction, expansion and rehabilitation of 460 roads is in progress at a fast pace.” He added, “Construction of Quaid-e-Azam Interchange to Wagah Border Road has been completed, while the construction of drain and wall is ongoing.”
Chief minister was also apprised, “Multan-Vehari two-way road project has been approved by Ecnec, and the construction of additional carriageway is underway.” She was briefed further, “All road construction and rehabilitation projects in Murree, and Shakargarh Road in Kartarpur Corridor Project have been completed, while the construction of Muridke-Narowal road is in progress.”
She agreed on the proposals to keep general width of roads at 12-feet, and to construct and rehabilitate inter-district and inter-village roads in the next financial year. Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz said, “Providing a safe and healthy environment to every worker is a fundamental right,” said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in her message on World Day for Safety & Health at Work.
She added, “For the development and achievement of goals of every organization, it is essential for the workforce to be healthy and safe.” She highlighted, “A safe workplace is also a foundation of economic development and a prosperous society.”
Chief minister said, “The World Day for Occupational Safety and Health is a reminder to raise awareness of potential hazards and accidents at work.” She added, “The theme of World Day for Occupational Safety and Health 2025 is the revolutionary role of artificial intelligence and digitalization for safety and health.”
Chief Minister Maryam said, “Many concrete steps are being taken for the welfare, safety and health of workers in Punjab.” She added, “The dignity, health, safety and provision of facilities to workers are being ensured.” She underscored, “Industrial establishments and active workers should ensure compliance of the safety rules.”
Chief minister said, “Such a culture for workers should be promoted where life and health of every individual is a priority.” She added, “Everyone must play his/her part in the mission of making workplaces safe, healthy and prosperous.”
