Mother, stepfather remanded in police custody in toddler's murder case
A judicial magistrate on Saturday remanded a couple in police custody for three days in a case pertaining to the murder of a toddler.
Sharifabad police arrested the three-year-old victim's mother Rimsha and stepfather Asad for allegedly beating the child to death.
The investigating officer produced the couple before the judicial magistrate (Central) and requested their physical remand in police custody for interrogation.
The magistrate handed the suspects in police custody for three days with a direction to the IO to produce them on completion of their remand along with a progress report.
According to the police, a murder case was registered against the couple on the complaint of the victim's uncle. They said Rimsha had contracted a second marriage with Asad, adding that she had the three-year old son from her first marriage.
