LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that according to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the capacity of the Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority (PHOTA) is being increased.

He said that efforts are being made to provide the best health facilities to the people. Strict action is being taken against illegal transplantation of human organs in Punjab. The PHOTA amendment bill is also being followed.

He expressed these views while addressing the 34th meeting of PHOTA Monitoring Authority in the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Technical Dr M Waseem, CEO Punjab Healthcare Commission Dr. Saqib Aziz, PHOTA DG Prof M Aamir Zaman Khan, Prof Ashraf Nizami from Pakistan Medical Association, Prof Nasir Chaudhry from King Edward Medical University and other members. Dean Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute Professor Faisal Saud Dar, M Asif and Yasir Khan from Transplantation Society participated in the meeting through the Devlink.

PHOTA DG Prof M Aamir Zaman Khan presented various agendas for approval during the meeting. During the meeting, the implementation report of the decisions of the 33rd meeting of the Monitoring Authority was also presented. During the meeting, the minutes of the 33rd meeting of the Monitoring Authority were approved.
