Missing teachers
During a recent inspection conducted at a government school in Orangi Town, Karachi, a deeply concerning situation came to light. It was found that only four teachers are currently posted at the college. This severe shortfall has resulted in the near-total disruption of academic instruction across essential subjects. The absence of qualified teaching staff has placed the educational futures of hundreds of students in serious jeopardy. This state of affairs constitutes a flagrant violation of Article 25-A of the constitution, which enshrines free and compulsory education as a fundamental right for all children. The continued inaction in resolving this issue also reflects a critical breakdown in the enforcement of service regulations, staff deployment mechanisms and institutional oversight.
It is both a legal obligation and moral imperative of the provincial government to ensure that students in public institutions receive uninterrupted and quality education. I therefore urge the concerned authorities to treat this matter with the utmost urgency and to immediately deploy the required number of qualified teachers to restore normal academic operations at the college.
