Motorway cop martyred as mini-truck hits patrolling mobile

LAHORE:Inspector Mansoor Asghar of the Motorway Police was martyred near M-4 Motorway Aminpur while on duty on Wednesday.

The incident occurred when a mini-truck collided with a patrolling mobile when its driver fell asleep. At the time of the accident, the inspector was raising awareness among drivers about preventing accidents caused by drowsy driving. He sustained critical injuries and embraced martyrdom on the spot.

Inspector Mansoor was a resident of Faisalabad. He had joined the Motorway Police in 2007 and was known for his honesty, professionalism, and dedication to public service. His funeral prayers was held in Faisalabad, where a smartly turned-out contingent of the Motorway Police presented him with a guard of honour. Senior officials, including IG Motorway Police B.A. Nasir, Additional IG, central region DIG Saad Akhtar Bharwana, and DIG Dar Ali Khattak, along with a large number of officers and citizens, attended his funeral. The IG Motorway Police expressed grief over the incident.

Two bandits killed, 23 held in 24 hours

Punjab Police have claimed arresting 23 members of 10 gangs during the last 24 hours. The police also recovered 114 firearms, 53 motorcycles, 21 mobile phones, 5 tola gold, and Rs23 million from the accused.

According to Punjab Police spokesperson, 318 proclaimed offenders (POs), 189 judicial absconders, and 88 habitual criminals were also detained. Meanwhile, in the operations against criminal elements, two dacoits were killed and 6 others were injured.
