About eight years ago, I traveled from the Thar Coalfield by bus and took the 4pm flight to Islamabad. I spent three hours freezing at Karachi Airport, where the temperature was set to 22C, despite it being over 40C outside. When I asked the CAA staff to raise the temperature, they claimed that the travelers liked it this cold.
Globally, 26C is the recommended setting for public buildings to save energy. Such low temperatures at our airports are quite surprising, given that our air industry is plagued by debt and cost issues.
